New Media Ethics



Unethical means the activities conforming to accepted standards of social or professional behavior. It is the wrong contrary to conscience or morality or law, society would not accept it. 

There were four of unethical practices of company which is dumping, labor union opposition, discriminating employees, and copying the style of packaging in order to mislead the consumer. Those of elements of unethical practices, discriminating employees is the main problem of human resources in organization. Equality now is guaranteed by law, but some of people also will discrimination of people who are not same color of skin, religious, or opinion. 

The real example of an unethical activities in organization is McDonalds fast food. McDonalds are the famous fast food restaurant in the whole world and populated by large group of people even they are different age, race, religious and gender. 

McDonalds also will refer different country and come out different menu of meal such as BBQ pork sandwich in Korea and Pepper chicken burger in China, those of menu are special in the country only, and other country doesn’t have it. 

And in Malaysia, there are Halal country and not allow pork food selling in here, but other McDonalds in other country have to sell the pork burger. For example Thailand. Thailand was nearly our country and it was amazing and fun place, so many people also would have to visit it with their family and friends, especially Malay person. 

When they visit Thailand country and having lunch or dinner meal in McDonalds fast food restaurant in Thailand. They are don’t know pork burger are available sell in McDonalds and they don’t know what the pork burger look like, so that they actually choose wrong burger and eat it. 

The employee of McDonalds are responsibility to tell to Malay customer about what they purchase and remind them they have purchase pork burger, it they make clear about the pork burger are available sell in there, so that Malay customer will change it and make sure they are don’t eat the pork burger. 

McDonalds needs to take it serious and find out what public needs, try to fulfill what they needs and do more research about different culture, to know more about what the rules of cultures, so that they can come out more good services and meal to customers.

New media planning

For the step of planning new media, there were eight important elements included in new media plan, which is objective, target audience, platforms, calendar, samples, activities, monitor the evaluation and recommendation.

Firstly, we need to set out the objectives in new media plan, and we call the objectives as SMART, which is Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic and Time. To set out the objective, we need to make sure we can helps the company to fulfill the objectives. Secondly, we have to focus in our target audience. Target audience will be differential to internal audience and external audience. Internal target audience included employee, shareholders and staff. For the external target audience will be media and customer.

For the third element of new media plan, which is platforms outcome. For the platform, we have to select which channel are available using by public. Because different channel will target different audience, so we needs to focus it to select which channel can hit many target audience. In my opinion, Facebook new media social page are the largest channel used by public, and I believe it can put in our platform outcome because Facebook can helps us to target many different generations audience.

After set out few part of new media plan, we have start to plan our activities and calendar that launch the event. It can clearly to give company which activities are launch and the date, and also make employee can know more about each activities that the company launch. And also we have to come out gantt chart as our calendar. Besides, we also have to show few of samples in out proposal, it can make audience or company clearly to know how to launch the activities and what is the activities talk about. 


At the last two steps of new media plan, new media executive are very important in monitor the evaluation of the activities. New media executive can get feedback of audience and media from new media social page, it can clearly get the feedback from audience and know the event are successful accept or reject by public or not. At last, the last step is recommendation to difference from the old proposal. The new media executive and public relations practitioner can give more ideas to improve this proposal or list out what are the bad thing in this proposal, make sure wouldn’t happen again .
